DPI’s 2025-2026 strategic roadmap

DPI’s 2025-2026 strategic roadmap aims at empowering the national ecosystems in the membership of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) dealing with sustainable agriculture and rural development to effectively enhance their efforts in fighting drought.

Building on the first results of operation since July 2024, the period HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency is hosting DPI, as commissioned by the Representation Office of the OTS in Hungary, DPI’s strategy focuses on fostering effective collaboration, strengthening engagements with international institutions and initiatives relevant to drought prevention, and improving operational frameworks to support capacities in addressing economic, social, and environmental aspects of drought.

DPI is determined to offer a unique acceleration opportunity to ensure capacities to develop and launch catalytic and transformational projects that aim to attract additional financing for the purpose of sustainability in agriculture and rural development by addressing drought at scale. By 2026, DPI, as a center of excellence based on constant achievements, envisions an innovative, collaborative, and resilient ecosystem, empowering OTS stakeholders to reach their full potential in meaningfully dealing with drought.

Strategic Objectives

Effective collaboration among OTS members:

  • Ensure that DPI’s transparent governance framework and decision-making result in a center of excellence with lasting impact and value added.
  • Address demand and the diverse development needs of OTS members through stakeholder engagement and tailored support, especially via capacity building and knowledge sharing.
  • Promote active member participation via specialized events in OTS capitals and dedicated work streams with OTS stakeholders, and collaborating with the Trade Attaché Networks.

Unified engagement with international institutions and initiatives:

  • Foster partnerships with organizations and agencies active in drought preparedness to amplify collective impact by effectively leveraging human and financial resources.
  • Strategically prioritize interactions with key international stakeholders to influence policies and initiatives constructively to the benefit of OTS members.
  • Enhance communication and outreach to resonate and align with priorities as rolled out by international organizations and initiatives.

Improved capacities to deal with various aspects of drought with an impact:

  • Empowering OTS members with tools and resources to optimize drought preparedness.
  • Ensuring sufficient visibility for DPI by creating a regularly updated website and ensuring a proper social media presence.
  • Prioritize support for stakeholders to navigate sustainability-related challenges effectively.
  • Integrate the complex economic, social, and environmental aspects of drought prevention into a diverse project portfolio positively affecting drought preparedness

DPI Thematic Focus Areas

During the last intensive period of operation, based on preliminary stakeholder engagements and project consultations, DPI defined the following thematic focus areas that will guide its operations when it comes to project generation:

  • Sustainable agriculture (soil conservation, regenerative agricultural practices, drought-resistant crops);
  • Water resource management;
  • Afforestation;
  • Early warning and monitoring systems for drought; and
  • Green finance frameworks to crowd in financial resources.
